Adults Mental Health Services

Thinking Ahead, which replaces Healthy Minds, provides help with everyday issues that affect your mental wellbeing and provides professional support for more common mental health difficulties, such as anxiety and depression. The service is available to people over the age of 16 years who are registered with a GP in the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale areas.

The Sanctuary: 0300 003 7029. Overnight mental health crisis line, from 8pm – 6am (for clients over 18 years old only).

The Samaritans: Freephone 116 123. 24 hours each day, every day. Talk to them any time you like, in your own way, and off the record about whatever’s getting to you.

Under 18’s Mental Health Services

#Thrive

#Thrive is a brand new service for children and young people aged up to 19 years who are experiencing emotional health and wellbeing issues (e.g. feeling stressed, worried or not being able to enjoy things. It is available for all those who live or are registered with a doctor in the Rochdale Borough (which includes Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale).

As well as providing the more traditional types of support, such as one-to-one or group counselling sessions, the service aims to provide lots of other support aids, such as general lifestyle advice including how to maintain a healthy diet, increase your social and physical activities. They can also help by signposting you to sports, drama, music and arts groups. #Thrive can also provide advice to parents, carers and anyone that works with a child or young person.

In the very near future you will be able to ask for support via an online system and they will also be opening a new central hub based in Rochdale, which has been named by previous users of the service: “Around the Corner”. This will be friendly, informal and welcoming and there will be a café where you can pop into chat with staff. If you are unable to make it to Rochdale, there will be sessions at venues across the borough – please contact Thrive for more details.

Kooth

Kooth is a new online service, which provides safe and anonymous online support for young people between 11 and 25 years old. Online help is available daily at the following times: Monday to Friday from 12pm to10pm and Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to10pm. Renaissance

The renaissance team are the single point of contact for people (over 18) living in Rochdale Borough who need support with issues affecting their health and wellbeing. This could include drugs and alcohol, low level mental health problems and homelessness amongst others. If you are unsure where to get help from they can assist by signposting you and referring you to the most appropriate services for your needs. They also offer advice to people who are indirectly affected such as concerned family or friends or professionals working with a client
